The character development is indeed interesting for both, and the sapphism is appreciable, but the insta-love appears odd. Laura is instantly attracted to Carmilla, but it is like a complete 180 for Carmilla when she starts to become more attracted to Laura.
How weird is the power dynamic De Lafontaine has over Carmilla?
Well, at the end it turned out to be more mother-daughter than romantic, but it was romantic for Carmilla at least. It does feel kinda weird that a professor would be taking advantage of a student’s almost obsession with her.
